Dealing With Personality Disorders

The majority of people who blunder or make mistakes will learn from these experiences, we realize and acknowledge our faults and learn to not make the same mistakes. People who have a personality disorders have their own way of thinking and behaving that they will not change, this brings on relationship and social problems.

There are many different types of personality disorders, to make it easier to understand the behaviours and the way that they think, these different types of disorders will be placed in three separate groups.

Paranoid, Schizoid & Schizotypal Personality Disorders: People with a personality disorder from the first group often appear suspicious and distrustful of other people. They have odd behavior, people have trouble to get to know them because they are subject to weird behavior. They end up spending a lot of their time alone.

Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic & Narcissistic Personality Disorders: People in this group of disorders are excessively emotional and are unstable. They all have problems with being impulsive, self-centered, and unapologetic. Drama plays an important role in their lives and they thrive on seeking attention and getting a reaction out of others. They find it hard to keep friends or to stay in a relationship.

Avoidance, Dependent, Obsessive-Compulsive & Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorders: People with these disorders are more commonly thought of as anxiety filled, phobic, apprehensive, or obsessive.
Depending upon the type of personality disorder they have, the person could be overly shy, over demanding, or maybe even considered a perfectionist.

At times everybody is dependent or narcissistic, or demanding, it is hard to determine when the behaviour becomes pathological. Sometimes the diagonosis of a personality disorder is difficult because people usually do not fit into a category neatly.

Seeing a therapist may help some people. Receiving the proper medication is vital to control anxiety and stress levels.
